BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference today announced the seedings and quarterfinal matchups for the 2022 MEC Women’s Soccer Championship. Tournament play is set to begin on Tuesday with four quarterfinal matchups on the campus sites of the higher seeded teams.
 
Earlier this fall, the Mountain East Conference approved an increased championship field for its women’s soccer tournament, increasing the number of qualifying teams from six to eight in 2022. In the expanded format, the top four teams in each division (north/south) will qualify for postseason play.
 
Frostburg State (14-1-1) won the north division championship and will be the division’s top seed in the tournament. The Bobcats will host No. 4 seed Wheeling (6-9-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m., while the north division’s No. 2 seed, Fairmont State (10-3-3), will host third-seeded Notre Dame (6-6-4) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in another quarterfinal.
 
In the south, West Virginia State won the division crown and is the top seed with a 13-1-2 conference record this fall. The Yellow Jackets will host the south division’s fourth-seed Davis & Elkins (8-7-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Institute. The fourth quarterfinal will feature the No. 2 seed in the south, Concord (10-4-2), hosting third-seeded Charleston (9-7-0) in Beckley on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
 
The semifinals are slated for Friday at 4 p.m., while the championship game will be played Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. All games will be played at the highest remaining seed through the championship round.
