Fairmont State 81, Urbana 78 | Final Stats
FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Dale Bonner's shot from halfcourt as time expired gave Fairmont State an 81-78 win over Urbana on Wednesday night at Joe Retton Arena. The game was close throughout with 21 lead changes on the night.
Trailing by three with 4.4 seconds remaining, Urbana's Matt Ashley hit a three-pointer in the corner to tie the game and leaving just 2.2 left on the clock. Bonner got the inbounds pass and took the ball on the right-hand side of the court and tossed it in at halfcourt as time expired for the win.
Bonner's three gave him 20 for the night to go with nine assists and six steals as Fairmont State improved to 10-2 (5-2 in the MEC). Kenzie Melko added 18 and Cole VonHandorf tossed in 15.
Drew Thomas had 18 points for Urbana (3-10, 2-5). Matt Ashley came off the bench to score 16, while Mario Lacy added 13.
Wheeling 96, Glenville State 92 | Final Stats
GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Jordan Reid's three-pointer with 1:35 left helped Wheeling earn a 96-92 win over Glenville State on Wednesday night at the Waco Center.
With the game tied at 86-86, Reid's three put Wheeling (7-4, 4-3) up for good. Nathan Meriwether was 5-for-6 from the free throw line to help keep the Cardinals in front in the final minute.
Emmanuel Ansong was 10-of-14 from the field on his way to 21 points for Wheeling. Jay Gentry added 20 more for the Cardinals.
Najee Scott paced Glenville State (8-5, 5-2) with 23 points off the bench. Phil Bledsoe had a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Charleston 102, West Virginia Wesleyan 77 | Final Stats
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston shot 64 percent from the field as the Golden Eagles earned a 102-77 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night at the Wehrle Center.
Drew Rackley poured in 32 points and had five steals to lead UC (10-2, 5-2) to the win. Keith Williams added 22 more, and Lamont McManus notched 14. Devon Robinson narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
UC made 40-of-63 from the field, including 15-of-30 from behind the arc in the win.
Anthony Garcia came off the bench to score 14 points and grab eight rebounds for Wesleyan (5-8, 4-3). Ross Young tallied 12, while Clay Todd and Luka Petrovic each added 10.
Frostburg State 72, Notre Dame 69 | Final Stats
CUMBERLAND, Md. -- Frostburg Stated edged Notre Dame, 72-69, on Wednesday night.
The Bobcats (6-7, 3-4) trailed by double digits early, but battled back to tie the game at the break, 35-35. FSU managed to a bit of breathing room with a six-point lead at 68-62 with just under five mintues to play. Notre Dame (3-10, 1-6) got to within two at 68-66 with 1:22 to play, but Joe Adedayo hit a jumper from the wing with 20 seconds left to double the Bobcat lead. NDC's Levi Frankland converted a conventional three-point play with just seven ticks left to make it 70-69. Daniel Alexander made two free throws for FSU to push the lead back to three, and Notre Dame's final attempt would not go down.
Adedayo had a game-high 29 points for Frostburg. Alexander added 17 points and eight rebounds.
DeAnthony Owens led Notre Dame with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Drew Scarberry had 12 points and six rebounds.
West Liberty 104, Concord 79 | Final Stats
ATHENS, W.Va. -- West Liberty pulled away from Concord in the second half as the Hilltoppers downed the Mountain Lions, 104-79, on Wednesday night at the Carter Center.
The Hilltoppers (9-3, 4-2) were +23 on the glass in the win. WLU also held Concord to just 29 percent shooting in the second half.
Dalton Bolon (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Will Yoakum (13 points, 10 rebounds) each had double-doubles. Preston Boswell tossed in 19 points, and Malik McKinney added 18 more for the 'Toppers.
Concord (4-8, 2-5) was led by 20 points and 10 rebounds from Trey Brisco. Malik Johnson chipped in 16 points.
West Virginia State 90, Davis & Elkins 73 | Final Stats
INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Davis & Elkins, 90-73, on Wednesday night.
Michal Seals led four WVSU players in double figures with 17 points. Jeremiah Moore and Anthony Pittman each had 13, and Frank Agyemang tossed in 12 as the Yellow Jackets improved to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Donte Doleman led all scorers with 23 points for Davis & Elkins (4-9, 2-5). Emre Yildirim had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Senators.
