BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Tyson Bagent (Shepherd), Cedric Amadi (Charleston), Mikel Toliver (Urbana) and Owen Rozanc (West Liberty) have earned Mountain East Conference Player of the Week honors for their play in the fourth week of the season.
Bagent, a freshman from Martinsburg, W.Va., is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week for a second-straight week after helping the Rams to a 27-7 road win over West Virginia State. He completed 23-of-40 passes for 318 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for another 44 yards in the win over the Yellow Jackets. Bagent is the only quarterback in NCAA Division II to average over 400 yards per game (404.7).
Charleston's Amadi and Urbana's Toliver share Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading their teams to wins last week. Amadi, a senior from Reisterstown, Md., tied an MEC record with three interceptions in a win over Fairmont State. His three picks all came in UC territory, including a key interception in his own end zone in the fourth quarter to help preserve UC's lead. Toliver, a senior from Dayton, Ohio, did it all for Urbana in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan. He recorded a career-high eight tackles, including 4.5 for a loss, with a pair of sacks. He also forced a fumble on one of his sacks that led to an 84-yard recovery for a touchdown and was credited with a pass breakup in the victory.
Rozanc, a freshman from Sheffield Lake, Ohio, is the Special Teams Player of the Week after hitting all three field goal attempts in a 23-17 win over UVa-Wise. He also connected on both point-after tries as the Hilltoppers earned their second win of the season.
