BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- UVa-Wise's Taiwo Badmus has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after guiding the Cavs to a 2-0 week.
Badmus, a senior from London, England, helped UVa-Wise snap its six-game losing streak by averaging 29.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in wins over West Virginia Wesleyan and Glenville State last week. In the win over WVWC, Badmus accounted for over half ot his team's total points scoring 32 while also pulling down nine rebounds. He then added 27 more points to go with nine rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in a come-from-behind win over Glenville State. Badmus helped the Cavs stage the biggest comeback in Prior Center history erasing a 25-point deficit and went over the 1,000-point mark against the Pioneers.

Haywood Highsmith (WJU) averaged 27 points and 12.5 rebounds including a 23-point ,12-rebound outing against Fairmont State and 31 points in a loss to Shepherd…Roy Hatchett (UU) averaged 12 points, 3.5 rebounds, and three assists per game with a career-high 15 points against Charleston…Thomas Lang (SU) averaged 20 points and 3.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Rams highlighted by a career-high 23 points in a victory over #19 Wheeling Jesuit…Dan Monteroso (WLU) scored 41 points with nine rebounds, and nine assists in a 1-1 week for the Hilltoppers…Tommy Nolte (CU) averaged 25 points, seven rebounds and 4.5 assists per game...Pat Johnson-Agwu (WISE) scored 53 points with 11 rebounds and six steals as the Yellow Jackets went 2-0 on the week…Vonte Montegomery (FSU) averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds and three assists highlighted by a 24-point outing in a win over #1 West Liberty…Riley Heatherington (UC) averaged 10 points and seven rebounds in a 2-0 week for Charleston including a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Notre Dame.
