The Mountain East Conference will introduce each of its 12 member institutions over the next 14 days leading up to the first athletic contests for some members on Thursday, Sept. 5.

The University of Charleston actually started as Barboursville Seminary in 1888 in Barboursville, W.Va. The school later moved to Charleston, W.Va., and was renamed Morris Harvey College in 1901. It became the University of Charleston in 1978.

The 1948-49 year has been referred to as the "most glorious year in Morris Harvey athletics" with the football team winning its first state championship, the basketball team winning the WVIAC regular season title, and the baseball team sharing in a piece of the conference championship.
