Top-Seed Shepherd Hosts Winston-Salem in NCAA Playoffs

Shepherdstown, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University Rams, undefeated champions of the inaugural season of Mountain East Conference Football, make another trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs. SU will play host to the Winston-Salem State University Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (11/30) at Ram Stadium.

Shepherd, the top-seed in Super-Region I, take on the #4 seed Winston-Salem State University.  WSSU defeated #5 seed Slippery Rock (PSAC) 27-20 in the opening round last Saturday. WInston-Salem quarterback Rudy Johnson was 24-37 for 315 yards in last week's win with 3 TD's and 3 INT's.

Shepherd (10-0) swept through its first season in the newly formed Mountain East Conference. The Rams are undefeated for the second consecutive regular season. The conference title was the 14th conference crown in 27 seasons under Monte Cater at SU.  

A pair of dominating defenses will meet in this regional semifinal.  WSSU is the top scoring and top defensive team in the CIAA. Shepherd led the MEC in scoring offense (39.5) and scoring defense (15.1).

The winner Saturday will advance to the Super-Region I Regional Championship on Saturday, December 7th against the winner of #2 Bloomsburg and #3 West Chester.
