Charleston 7, Concord 0 | Final Stats
After a scoreless first inning, Taylor Itnyre’s RBI single and a groundout from Brice Arrington gave Charleston two runs in the second. Steven Davis’ two-run double in the third and Ethan Hunt’s double to right in the fourth left the Golden Eagles trailing 5-0.
Charleston tacked on two additional runs in the seventh behind Davs’ two-run homerun down the left field line.
The Mountain Lions were unable to respond offensively, and were eliminated from the MEC Tournament.
Adam Jafine earned the complete game win after allowing just five hits and striking out nine in the shutout win. Nate Werner took the loss for Concord. He allowed five runs (two earned) off of five hits while striking out three in 3.1 innings of work.
Five different players recorded base hit knocks for Concord. Davis, Itynyre and Nick Wilson all tallied two hits in the win for Charleston with Davis knocking in four RBI.
Friday’s games, originally scheduled for 3 p.m. (Shepherd/West Liberty) and 7 pm. (Fairmont State/West Virginia Wesleyan) were postponed due to inclement weather. Play will resume on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
