UC Leads After First Round

DANIELS, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston had four players shoot under 80 to take the first round lead at the Mountain East Conference Men's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs.

Ritwki Jain fired a one-under 71 to lead UC, and he is tied for first individually with Concord's Brett Laxton who also carded a 71. Charleston's Lewis Fenn shot 72, while teammates David Scragg turned in a 75 and Mason Weese added a 79 for a team total of 297.

Shepherd is just six strokes back after a 303. Brandon Dang led the Rams with a 73, and Owen Elliott and Trey Euler added 76s for SU. West Liberty is in third (308) paced by Sean Trapp's 73, and West Virginia Wesleyan and Concord are tied for fourth at 310. 

Eight players are just four shots of the indiividual lead after day one.
