NDC Wins Women's Golf Title

DANIELS, W.Va. – Notre Dame College went wire-to-wire to win the 2017 Mountain East Conference Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Cobb Course at Glade Springs Resort.

The Falcons will be the MEC's first representative in the NCAA Tournament as this year marks the first with an automatic qualifier going to the winner of the conference championship. NDC will compete in that NCAA East Regional Championship in the spring.
 
Notre Dame won with a three-day total of 1,005, and held off a challenge from runner-up West Virginia Wesleyan on the final day. The Bobcats cut into NDC's 21-shot lead after two days by bettering the Falcons by 11 on the last 18 holes, but finished with a score of 1,015. 

Wheeling Jesuit was third (1,038), followed by Charleston (1,039), UVa-Wise (1,112) and Fairmont State (1,159).
 
Natalia Jornet also went wire-to-wire to claim medalist honors for the second-straight year. Jornet shot a final round 77 to finish first by 16 shots with a total of 226. Sandra Brink was second at 242, followed by in third at Katie Pritchett 244, while Sydney Brill, Macie Hysell and Alexandra Cardi all tied for fourth with 245.
