Game 7: Shepherd 4, Concord 2 | Box Score
Spencer Wolfe's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie and sent Shepherd to the MEC Baseball Tournament championship game as the Rams downed Concord, 4-2.
MEC Pitcher of the Year Sam Crater (11-2) pitched all nine innings allowing two runs (both unearned) on just three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
In addition to his two-run single, Wolfe also blasted a solo home run earlier in the game. Jonathan Sarty, Matt Wilson and Bryce Shemer each had two hits for the Rams (39-10).
Nate Werner (5-5) lasted eight innings giving up four runs (three earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts for the Mountain Lions (30-21) Concord's Paul Williams had two of the team's three hits in the game.
Game 8: West Virginia State 7, Notre Dame 0 | Box Score
Tyler Hall pitched a complete game shutout as West Virginia State blanked Notre Dame, 7-0.
Hall (5-1) tossed 152 pitches giving up seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Hall stranded all 12 Notre Dame baserunners in the game.
WVSU's 1-2-3 hitters combined to go 8-for-15, including Jamis Jones who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Phil Mandt drove in two more for the Yellow Jackets (32-14).
Zach LaRocca (5-4) took the loss going seven innings giving up five runs on 10 hits. Danny Beaver reached base four times notching a pair of hits and walking twice for Notre Dame (25-19).
Game 9: West Virginia State 7, Concord 1 | Box Score
West Virginia State advanced to the MEC Baseball Tournament championship game with a 7-1 win over Concord on Saturday night at Epling Stadium.
Jamis Jones continued his hot hitting going 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Yellow Jackets (33-14). Anthony Payne helped the offense with a two-run hit.
Eric Roberts (5-2) pitched six strong innings giving up one run on eight hits with three walks. Curtis Johnson pitched two innings of clean relief, and Josh Falbo closed things down in the ninth inning.
Concord (30-22) was paced offensively by Andy Szamski who went 2-for-5. Ryan Johnston also had a pair of hits. Bryant Pybus (4-1) took the loss lasting 7.1 innings giving up seven runs on 15 hits. Reese Edwards came on and pitched the final 1.2 without giving up a hit.
