G17: (11) Wheeling Jesuit 5, Notre Dame 0 | Box Score | Photo Gallery
Eleventh-seeded Wheeling Jesuit stayed alive with a 5-0 win over Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon at the Moyer Complex.

Ali Smith (11-14) tossed a complete game shutout for the Cardinals to pick up the victory. She gave up six hits and struck out two and did not allow a free pass.

Angie Reddick went 2-for-2 with a solo home run to go with a pair of walks. Erika Jusko went 2-for-4 and belted a solo home run for the Cardinals.

Nicole Spuhler had two hits for NDC in the loss. Ashley Hall suffered the loss lasting 6.1 innings giving up six runs (two earned) with two strikeouts and three walks.

Wheeling Jesuit (19-32) went ahead early in the first inning taking advantage of a pair of NDC (24-30-1) errors and turning them into runs. WJU kept its lead at 2-0 until the sixth when it added another unearned victory. The Cardinals put the game away in the seventh with back-to-back solo blasts off the bats of both Reddick and Hall.

Urbana (27-20-1) used a five-run seventh inning to break open a tie game and eliminate Fairmont State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Moyer Complex. 

With the game tied 1-1, Katelyn Edwards singled and then later scored, and then Ashley Skinner hit a two-run triple down the right field line. Heather Martin recorded an RBI single, and the Falcons let in another on an errant throw to third base trying to catch Haley Kolmerten stealing. 

Kolmerten (16-11) got credit for the victory coming in relief and pitching four no-hit innings for the Blue Knights. Skinner led UU at the plate going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Amanda Skidmore had two hits for Fairmont State (31-17). Ashley Knight (4-4) took the loss after coming in relief and giving up five runs (two earned) with four strikeouts and two walks.

Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Year Taylor Brandts pitched UVa-Wise to the MEC Championship game as the Cavs defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-0, in a 12-inning thriller at the Moyer Complex.

Brandts (21-2) pitched all 12 innings for the complete game, shutout victory. She scattered nine hits, struck out eight, and did not surrender a walk in the game. 

With the game deadlocked at 0-0 through 11 innings, Rachel Fisher led off with a single, but the Bobcats were able get two outs with runners at first and second. Christina Ziemba's single up the middle scored two for the Cavs, and a WVWC error on Mindy Combs grounder scored one and extended the inning. Megan Dillon and Charity Lawson each added RBI singles to cap the scoring for UVa-Wise (36-14).

Brandts pitched a perfect 12th to close out the victory. 

WVWC's Jacqui Omichinski (16-4) battled Brandts for most of the game in the circle, lasting 11.2 innings giving up five runs (one earned), with 11 strikeouts and four walks. Alex Furr contributed two hits for WVWC (40-11) in the loss.

G20: (5) Urbana 5, (11) Wheeling Jesuit 3 | Box Score 
Urbana advanced to the final day of the Mountain East Conference after defeating Wheeling Jesuit, 5-3, on Saturday night at the Moyer Complex. 

The Blue Knights (28-20-1) will take on West Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the right to play UVa-Wise for the MEC Championship.

Urbana held a 2-1 lead after two innings, but Wheeling Jesuit pushed two runs across in the top of the third to take back the lead. The Cardinals remained in control until the Blue Knights rallied for three in the bottom of the fifth. Katelyn Edwards' two-run single sparked the comeback for UU in the inning, and Ashley Skinner drove in the other run.

UU starter Haley Kolmerten (17-11) came on in relief and only allowed two hits and kept WJU scoreless in 4.2 innings of work.

Jarah Ice went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Cardinals (19-33). Erika Jusko (7-12) took the loss giving up five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
