West Chester turned its seven hits into six runs to hand LIU Post a 6-2 loss on the third day of the NCAA Division II Softball Championship at the Moyer Complex.
The Golden Rams (42-21) advance to take on Dixie State later on in the afternoon. LIU Post concludes its season with a 50-11 record.
Kim Murl tied a West Chester single season record for wins as she improved to 24-11. Murl pitched out of several jams and stranded 11 LIU Post runners in the game while also going 2-for-3 with a run and a walk at the plate.
Laura Altenburger went 2-for-2 and Erin Quense delivered two RBI for West Chester.
Catherine Havens went 2-for-3 at the top of the LIU Post lineup. Aly Dzierzynski had a pair of hits in the game as did Kayla McCoy. The Pioneers out-hit West Chester 10-7 in the game.
LIU Post had a chance to get on the board early with the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the second inning, but Murl was able to get out of the inning uscathed. The Golden Rams went on to plate a pair in the bottom half of the inning, and then broke the game open in the bottom of the third with four runs. LIU Post hd chances in the fifth and sixth innings, but only managed one run in each while leaving two still on in the fifth and the bases loaded in the sixth.

Jessica Simmons went 2-for-3 and scored both runs for Southeastern Oklahoma State to lead the Savage Storm to a 2-0 win over Wayne State on the third day of the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament at the Moyer Sports Complex.
Southeastern Oklahoma State (44-19) advances to take on Armstrong State later on Saturday evening. Wayne State concludes the season with a record of 46-12.
Simmons led off the game with a triple and later scored on a Lacie Cook bunt. She added a run in the fifth inning when she singled, stole second and then third, and scored on the throw at third that couldn't be handled by the shortstop.
That was all the support starter Mindy McElory (28-11) needed as she gave up just five hits in seven innings.
Lyndsay Butler (25-7) struck out 10 batters and had two hits to lead Wayne State. Julie Ingratta had a pair of hits and Devin Hentschel added another for the Warriors.

Dixie State held off a late West Chester rally to eliminate the Golden Rams, 4-3, at the NCAA Division II Softball Championships at the Moyer Sports Complex.
The Red Storm (51-9) advance to take on West Texas A&M tomorrow at noon. West Chester finishes the season with a record of 42-22.
Dixie State got off to a quick start getting RBI hits from Courtney Sherwin and Autumn Woodfall. Nicole Chavez added a solo home run in the second to make it 3-0, and then Courtney Hine had an RBI double to push it to 4-0 after four innings.
West Chester rallied in the sixth as Laura Altenburger belted a three-run home run. With still no outs in the inning, the Golden Rams looked for more in the inning with back-to-back singles. Dixie State brought in Michelle Duncan in relief, and Duncan managed to get a batter to pop out on a sacrifice attempt to keep the runners in place, and then got the next two batters out to close out the WCU opportunity.
In their final at bat, West Chester got the leadoff runner on base, but Dixie State catcher Marla Reiter snagged a pop up on a bunt attempt and fired it down to first to turn the play. Duncan snagged a chopper on the final out to end the game and pick up the save.
Woodfall finished the game going 3-for-4 to pace the Red Storm offense. Chavez went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Shrewin had a pair of hits.
Aryn Feickert (21-6) got the winning pitching into the sixth allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Duncan pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits.
Kim Murl (24-12) went the distance in the circle giving up four runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks and also went 1-for-4. Erin Quense went 2-for-3 for the Golden Rams in the losing effort.

Southeastern Oklahoma State erased a 3-1 deficit with three runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth to eliminate Armstrong, 9-3, on the third day of the 2014 NCAA Softball Championships at the Moyer Complex.
Southeastern Oklahom State (45-19) advances to take on Valdosta State tomorrow afternoon. Armstrong finishes the season with a record of 36-15.
Laramie Beal went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBI to pace the Savage Storm offense. Courtney Riddle added a pair of hits and RBI as well. Mindy McElory (29-11) picked up the win in relief for Southeastern pitching the final four innings allowing one run on two hits. Shayna Milam got the start and pitched three innings allowing two runs on two hits.
Alexis Mercer hit her third home run of the tournament and Hannah Reppert contributed two hits to aid the Armstrong effort. Ollivia McLemore (25-8) took the loss giving up six runs on eight hits with with two strikeouts and a walk.
