G9: (11) Wheeling Jesuit 6, (4) Charleston 4 | Box Score

Wheeling Jesuit eliminated from the Mountain East Conference Tournament with a 6-4 victory over the Golden Eagles.

Erika Jusko's three-run home run in the fifth extended WJU's lead from 3-2 to 6-2. The Golden Eagles would score two of their own in the fifth, but Ali Smith wiggled out of jams in the sixth in the seventh to keep UC scoreless and secure the victory. Smith pitched the final 5.1 innings to earn the victory.

Lorain Tharp went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Victoria Vujanic also contributed two hits.

Jenna Evans, Hailey Tretick and Andrea Hayes each had two hits for the Golden Eagles.

G10: (8) Concord 6, (10) Shepherd 5 | Box Score
Concord eliminated Shepherd from the Mountain East Conference Tournament holding off the Rams, 6-5, on Friday afternoon at the Moyer Complex.

SU got on top early with three runs in the first, but Concord countered on Whitney Carrigan's three-run home run in the bottom of the second. Shepherd went ahead again with a run in the fourth, but CU took the lead for good as solo home runs from Alyssa Morris and Allie Reid sparked a three-run inning for the Mountain Lions in the fifth.

Shepherd plated one in the top of the seventh and had the tying run in scoring position, but could not complete the rally as CU held on for the 6-5 victory.

Reid got the win going 6.2 innings giving up two runs on nine hits. SU's Tara Hanson took the loss giving up five runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work.

G11: (9) Glenville State 6, (7) West Virginia State 4 | Box Score
Glenville State remained alive in the Mountain East Conference Tournament with a 6-4 win over West Virginia State on Friday afternoon at the Moyer Complex.

Sydney Kaplan's two-run single helped WVSU open up a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. However, Glenville State rallied in its next at-bat plating four runs as Casey Schaeffer's two-run single got things started in the inning. West Virginia State would add one in the bottom half of the inning, but Glenville's Brittany May shut things down the rest of the way as the Pioneers picked up the win. 

Kayleigh Huck led GSC with three hits in the game and scored twice. Mackenzie Smith added two hits.

Mattie Best went 3-for-3 for the Yellow Jackets and Dee Dee Loftis added a pair of hits. Anna Eggleston pitched all seven innings and allowed six runs on 10 hits.

G12: (3) Fairmont State 9, (12) West Liberty 1 (6 innings) | Box Score
Fairmont State rolled up nine runs on 10 hits to defeat West Liberty, 9-1, in six innings at the Moyer Complex on Friday afternoon.

Eight differet players scored for the balanced FSU offense. Sarah Parsons and Nikki Nuzum each had two hits for FSU.

Kayla Robins went the distance for the Falcons giving up one run on four hits and stirking out seven.

G13: (1) West Virginia Wesleyan 8, Urbana 2 | Box Score
West Virginia Wesleyan advanced to the winner's bracket championship game with an 8-2 win over Urbana at the Moyer Complex on Friday evening.

Urbana held a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, but a costly error extended the inning for the Bobcats leading to five runs -- all of which came with two outs. The inning was puncuated by Rebekah Honce's grand slam.

The Blue Knights could not solve Jacqui Omichinski who scattered nine hits allowing two runs in the game. Omichinski also added a hit and two RBI for the Bobcats at the plate.

G14: (2) UVa-Wise 9, Notre Dame 0 (5 innings) | Box Score
Second-seeded UVa-Wise made short work of Notre Dame College, 9-0, to advance to the winner's bracket final on Friday evening at the Mountain East Conference Tournament.

Leading 3-0 after three, the Cavs put the game away by exploding for six runs in the fourth inning. 

Rachel Fischer had a two-run home run and a two-run double to help pace the UVa-Wise offense. Mindy Combs also provided a two-run home run in the victory.

Rachel Hawks allowed just one hit in five innings of work to pick up the victory.


G15: (8) Concord vs. (11) Wheeling Jesuit | Box Score
Wheeling Jesuit eliminated Concord from the Mountain East Conference Tournament by defeating the Mountain Lions 6-5 on Friday night at the Moyer Complex.

The Cardinals got a big game from Lorain Tharp who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a two-run home run in the first inning. Jarah Ice had two hits and scored twice, and Angie Reddick and Marla Small each chipped in two hits.

Ali Smith got the win going the first four inning giving up four runs on eight hits. Eriki Jusko pitched the final three to get the save.

Courtney Purtell had a big game for CU going 4-for-4 and driving in four of the team's five runs. Alyssa Morris had two hits, including a solo home run.

Sarah Herndon took the loss pitching four innings giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits with five strikeouts. Allie Reid pitched the final three innings.

G16: (3) Fairmont State vs. (9) Glenville State | Box Score
Nikki Nuzum turned in an efficient performance to help Fairmont State eliminate Glenville State from the Mountain East Conference Tournament on Friday night at the Moyer Complex.

Nuzum was perfect through 4.2 innings before giving up a hit. She finished the game giving up two runs on three hits in seven innings.

Fairmont State scored all the runs it would need in the fourth inning they scored twice before Carly Mundie belted a two-run home run. 

GSC scored once in the sixth and Mackenzie Smith smacked a solo home run in the seventh, but the Pioneers could rally past the Falcons.
